Isle of Lewis Church of Scotland Says No to Gay Clergy

It was encouraging to hear that every Church of Scotland congregation on the Isle of Lewis has stood against the idea of ordaining practising homosexual ministers.

The Lewis Presbytery has made it clear that they believe this goes against the teaching of the Bible. They have also opposed same-sex marriage for the same reason.

The wider Church of Scotland has been debating whether to change its long-standing position on this issue. These brothers and sisters on Lewis are taking a stand for what they believe God’s Word says.

As Christians, we must always go back to the Bible. God loves every person, which includes those who struggle with same-sex attraction.

But the Scriptures are clear that the homosexual lifestyle is sin, just as it names many other sins.

Our message should always be full of grace and truth: Jesus loves sinners, and He has the power to save and change us. “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36, NKJV).

Let’s pray for the Church of Scotland, for the Isle of Lewis, and for our whole nation.

May many return to the clear teaching of God’s Word and find forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

God bless you,

Peter
