I had a really encouraging day walking around the Kirkmichael and Churchill estates with Tim, the assistant minister at Kirkmuirhill Parish Church. It was good to talk and pray together as we saw the needs of the community.
The Lord is doing a wonderful work there. The Rev. Ian Watson and the team at Kirkmuirhill Parish Church have a real heart for outreach. They’re reaching deep into the community with programs like Teen Challenge. I’ve seen the Teen Challenge bus on the estate, and that’s fantastic news for an area that has struggled with drugs and alcohol.
They’re also running a course called “Drug Proofing Your Kids” to help parents. Tim mentioned other ideas too, like CEPAS (or something similar, let me know if you know the right name). They’re even planning a mission in August and preaching each week to stir up the congregation to share the Gospel.
It’s exciting to see Christians from different churches working together in the community. Park Church of Scotland is also getting involved with youth work. Wouldn’t it be great if more men and dads would catch the burden and step up to serve these young people?
One idea we prayed about is having a simple café afternoon at the centre, some songs, a testimony, and a short Gospel message. It might be a good way to reach the kids and families. Let’s keep praying about that.
The message Tim shared from Mark 7 was powerful. The big idea was: “The church’s mission is for everyone.” That’s so true. Jesus didn’t come just for some—He came for all of us.
Folks the harvest is still great in our communities. Let’s be faithful to pray, to love the people around us, and to share the good news that Jesus saves. His grace is enough for every need.
If you’re in the Helensburgh area and want to get involved, or if you have ideas for youth outreach, please get in touch through the website.
Let’s trust the Lord to work in the hearts of these young people and their families. He is still in the business of changing lives!
God bless you, Peter
