I was encouraged to hear Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva speak so clearly in a news interview. She saw the bigger picture of what aggressive promotion of homosexuality can do to a society. It was refreshing to hear someone stand up and say they didn’t want their country to go down that road.
As Christians, we believe the Bible is very clear on this subject. God loves every person, no matter what their struggles are. But the Bible also teaches that the homosexual lifestyle is sin, just as it calls many other things sin. The good news is that Jesus came to save sinners, all of us.
I have no hatred in my heart for anyone living this lifestyle. God loves them, and so should we. We are all sinners saved by grace. Like the Apostle Paul said, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15, NKJV).
I remember talking with a friend from Wales who had struggled deeply with this. He thought his sin was too big for God. We prayed together, and I reminded him of God’s forgiveness. He found real freedom in Christ and began to walk in victory, staying strong in the Word and in prayer.
I also think of David Wilkerson, a man of God who loved people but was not afraid to preach the truth. He saw many lives changed by the power of the Gospel, including people who left that lifestyle after coming to Christ.
Our message is always the same: Jesus loves you, and He can set you free. “Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36, NKJV).
Let’s pray for our nation, for Scotland, and for people everywhere who are caught in any kind of sin. May the Holy Spirit bring conviction and draw many to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
God bless you,
Peter
