Why Could Holocaust Memorial Day Not Have Its Own Day?

Hello, my friends.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. My heart is heavy as I think of the six million Jewish men, women, and children who were systematically murdered by the Nazi regime between 1941 and 1945.

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, why could this day not stand on its own? Eighty years later, the horror is still raw for survivors and their families. This was one of the greatest evils in human history.

Since World War II, we have seen many other genocides — in Cambodia, Rwanda, Armenia, Sudan (Darfur), Myanmar, and against the Uighurs in China, to name just a few. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people have been slaughtered in these atrocities.

Yet antisemitism ~ the hatred of Jewish people ~ is still alarmingly widespread today. Disinformation and “cancel culture” are being used to distort and diminish the truth of the Holocaust. We must not allow this to happen.

As Christians, let us remember:

  • Pray for the Jewish people, both in Israel and around the world.
  • Teach our children and grandchildren what really happened so that this evil is never forgotten.
  • Stand against all forms of hatred and antisemitism.

“Never Again” must mean never again ~ for the Jewish people or for any other group.

Let us keep the memory alive and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

God bless you, Peter
