From Deep Space to Earth – Victor Glover’s Beautiful Easter Message About God’s Creation

Well, good evening, folks. As I’ve been following this Artemis II mission, something beautiful happened that really touched my heart.

One of the astronauts, Victor Glover, is the pilot on this flight, the first crewed mission to go around the Moon in over fifty years. While they were heading out into deep space, on Easter Sunday, Victor shared a message that just melted my heart.

Looking back at our little planet from way out there in the blackness, he said:

“As we are so far from Earth and looking at the beauty of creation… You guys are talking to us because we’re in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you’re on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe… In all of this emptiness, this is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we call the universe, you have this oasis, this beautiful place that we get to exist together… Just trust me, you are special.”

He went on to talk about reading the Bible and seeing all the amazing things God has done for us. And earlier he said it straight: “We have a sin nature and we need Jesus. Jesus is that bridge that spans sin and gives us the opportunity of going to heaven.”

Now, isn’t that something? Here’s a man hundreds of thousands of miles away, circling toward the Moon, yet he’s pointing people right back to the Creator and to the Saviour. That, my friends, is a real witness for the Lord.

The Moon up there has no light of its own, it’s really just a big, cold rock hanging in the sky. Yet every single night, without fail, it faithfully reflects the sunlight down to us here on Earth so we can see in the darkness.

I’ve always loved that picture. Because that’s exactly what the Lord wants for you and for me. He doesn’t ask us to create our own light. He wants us to stay turned toward His Son, Jesus, the Light of the world, and reflect His light into this dark world around us.

The psalmist put it so beautifully:

“…Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the sky.” (Psalm 89:37)

Listen to this:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” (Psalm 19:1)

When Victor looked at that beautiful blue oasis we call Earth, he was seeing exactly what the Bible has been telling us all along, this world is God’s special creation, and you and I are special to Him.

Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

We don’t have to be astronauts to do that. Right where you are, in your home, your job, your church, you can reflect the light of the Lord Jesus.

Let’s thank the Lord for Victor Glover’s clear testimony during this historic flight. And let’s pray that the whole crew returns safely, and that many hearts will be touched by the simple message that we need Jesus.

If you’ve never trusted Christ as your Saviour, today is a good day. He loves you. He died for you. And He wants to be that bridge that brings you to the Father.

May the Lord bless you, and may you walk in the light of His love today.
