Male and Female Created He Them – When Zeal Must Bow to Wisdom

I want to talk to you plainly, the way I always have, straight from the Word of God, because these days the truth is being twisted six ways from Sunday, and some of God’s people are getting confused.

You’ve probably seen the headlines about the Irish teacher who’s been in and out of prison for years now. The world screams, “He’s in jail because he won’t use a teenager’s pronouns!” That’s not the whole story, and we don’t repeat half-truths in this fellowship. Here’s what actually happened:

A Christian brother refused to call a boy “they.” That part is true, and I would have done the same. God said, “Male and female created He them,” and no court on earth can make me deny what my Creator has declared. So, the school gave him a suspension, and the judge told him to just stay away from the school until everything was sorted out.

Instead of appealing that order through the proper channels and waiting on the Lord, the brother kept marching up to the school gates every single morning, walking onto the grounds, and at one point even interrupted a chapel service to shout his protest.

That’s why he’s been locked up, not for his biblical conviction, but for deliberate, repeated contempt of a court order. The judge has said it over and over: “You’re free to believe whatever you want about pronouns; you’re not free to keep trespassing.”

Now listen, I’m not criticising the man’s zeal for Genesis 1:27. I love that fire. But zeal without wisdom and without submission to the authorities God Himself has placed over us (Romans 13:1-2) can end up hurting the very cause we’re trying to defend.

When the lost world hears “Christian teacher jailed for misgendering,” they don’t read the fine print about trespassing. They just hear “hateful Christians again,” and another door slams shut to the gospel.

Here’s the our ministry stand:

  1. We will never call a boy “she” or a girl “he.” God’s creation order is not up for negotiation.
  2. We will be the kindest, most gracious people you’ll ever meet. We’ll use your name all day long if that helps.
  3. We will submit to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake (1 Peter 2:13), as long as it doesn’t force us to sin. If the ordinance only says, “stay off the property,” we stay off the property and trust God to fight the bigger battle.

That’s it. Simple teaching from a simple Book.

So, let’s pray for our brother in Ireland, yes, pray he comes out stronger, pray his witness bears fruit ~ but let’s not repeat a half-story that makes the gospel look foolish. The world is watching, and Jesus deserves a clean testimony from His kids.

Male and female created He them. Love never lies. And love also knows when to stand still and let the Lord be God.

Peter
